Brief Note on Programmes and Activities of Mahatma’s Trust

Mahatma’s Trust started its operation in the year 2002, focusing on elderly care and supporting the economically weaker sections of the elderly community in Madurai. Over time, its activities expanded to nearby locations like Perungudi and Dindigul. The trust has been actively involved in various sectors:

In Health Sector

• • Running old age home for economically weaker section elderly people.
• • Conducting medical checkups and health camps for the poor.
• • Organizing Blood donation camps, Blood group identification camps, Hemoglobin camps, Eye checkups, and ENT camps.

In Education Sector

• • Providing notebooks, school bags, lunch bags, and uniforms to poor students.
• • Conducting additional coaching classes for Computer education, Spoken English, and English grammar.

In Community Development Sector

• • Organizing tree plantation camps to promote environmental sustainability.
• • During the years 2020 & 2021, COVID-19 relief materials were provided to those in need.

Upcoming Activities

• • About 50,000 people are living in and around the ashram. Medical tests, tablets, injections, and consultations will be given free of cost for 200 persons per day.
• • Ambulance services will be provided free of cost during emergency crises.
• • We are committed to offering safety and high standards of hygiene services for bedridden patients.
• • Free food will be provided to the needy people.
• • Food will be delivered to the doorstep for elderly people living alone.
